Description

My first step in the digital art galaxy.
It's only the result of the very good tutorial by Sirgerg concerning planets and stars fields. I hope it will announce a good launch for my new passion for arts.

Made with Photoshop 7 and Winamp 2.9 [Music may have an impact on this work]

As someone who has a great interest in all things to do with space, looks great! :)

Nice, but consider using spherize filter on planets, it really helps ;)

i like this, i really likes the dust around the big planet, but i miss the dust at the small. it's a good work, i've used sirgergs tutorials too, they are great!

btw: sheedee, i dont know, but i think he have used sphere filters.

The problem is here is texturing. You sorely need a new texture, and I'd suggest sharpening your results in any way possible. The emboss filter typically makes the contours of the surface look rounded and crappy, so either ditch it, or adapt. I suggest finding pictures of real planet / moon surfaces, making seamles textures out of them, and using those instead of the one Greg's so nicely provided.

Also beware of placing planetoids in such an arrangement - you risk making them look like a stack of pancakes.

I love the nebula you've created, though two planets that close together usually mean theyre about to collide (unless the one in the distance is a gas giant, like Jupiter ... ) Also the stars seem a bit *too* random. In most space scenes (real and painted) stars appear in bands, and dont appear so close, and in such numbers. I do love that purpley nebula though :)
